Rep. Balint Votes Against Funding for DHS Amid Rising ICE Violence Across the Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Becca Balint (VT-AL), Vice Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee, today released the following statement after voting against the Continuing Resolution that would fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for another two weeks:

"DHS needs to be reined in now. I refuse to give them another dime while Secretary Noem allows masked federal agents to terrorize our streets without accountability. They are killing Americans, using preschoolers as bait, and trampling on all of our constitutional rights. Accountability and change must come first, not money."

Rep. Balint remains committed to conducting oversight and holding ICE accountable. She has traveled to do on the ground oversight in Chicago during ‘Operation Midway Blitz’ in October and in Minnesota this month after the killing of Renee Good. She has also signed onto articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem.
