2024 Congressional App Challenge is Open!
Register Here
Each year, the U.S. House of Representatives hosts the Congressional App Challenge. This is an annual coding competition designed to encourage middle school and high school student participation in computer science and coding, regardless of experience. It is an opportunity for students to compete against other peers within Vermont by creating an original application in a variety of programming languages and on different platforms.
To be eligible to compete, a student must be in middle or high school and either:
-
Reside in Vermont
-
Go to school in Vermont
If a student is competing in a team, at least half of team members must be eligible. All students must be in middle school or high school. Full details can be found here
This year, we are excited to partner with Vermont’s own Hack Club to support Vermont students! Hack Club will offer grants to receive free hardware/software to help you build your project. They will also host three virtual meetings with past App Challenge winners -- a place for you to learn more about the Challenge, and meet and collaborate with other applicants. You can learn more at their website.
This app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol and shown on House.gov for a full year. The winners will also be invited to #HouseOfCode in Washington D.C. and have their patent application fee waived! More prizes may be announced at a later date, feel free to view all past winners here.
