Rep. Becca Balint Joins Colleagues in Voting to Keep Government Open and Fund Disaster Relief
Washington,
December 20, 2024
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Becca Balint (VT-AL) released the following statement after tonight’s vote to keep the government funded and deliver disaster relief funds to Vermonters: “Tonight, I voted to send disaster recovery funding directly to the communities who need it most and keep the government open. These dollars will help Vermonters build back stronger and more resilient from the devastating flooding we faced the last two years. After Republicans let Elon Musk play games with our nation’s budget, I’m relieved Vermont will finally receive the millions we need to build back our small businesses, farms, homes, and communities. “The last two days have shown Americans that House Republicans are beholden to the richest man on earth, who's calling the shots from ‘X.’ They would rather use their power to help billionaires get ahead and give handouts to the ultra-rich than stand up for regular Americans. Tonight, Democrats fought and won against their plan to gut Social Security and Medicare. We know this fight will only intensify over the next two years and I want Vermonters to understand I’m 100% focused on fighting for the needs of working people.” ### |
