Applications for the Summer 2025 Internship are now closed.
The Office of Representative Becca Balint (VT-At Large) offers paid internships in the Washington D.C. and Burlington offices.
Interns’ responsibilities include answering constituent calls, organizing digital and physical constituent correspondences, greeting guests, conducting research, attending hearings, briefings, and outreach events, preparing briefings, and other administrative/outreach work as needed.
Ideal candidates are compassionate listeners with strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to public service. Successful interns will possess excellent writing and organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of federal and state programs, including lived experience of navigating federal assistance programs, is a plus.
Interns are compensated with a salary of $3,900 per term.
The office is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Congresswoman Balint believes that policymaking and governance is improved by the perspective of diverse identities and experiences and that we need more diverse representation at all levels of local, state, and federal government. She recognizes that political internships and the networking they provide can be a steppingstone to political leadership, and that these opportunities have historically been available primarily to those with existing connections, and/or the means to pursue an unpaid internship. In recognition of this, diverse applicants are encouraged to apply and all intern positions through the office are paid.
