Once again Saving Republicans and Speaker Johnson from Government Shutdown

Washington, DC - Rep. Becca Balint released the following statement following the vote on H.R. 7463 to avert a government shutdown. 

“Republicans continue to make clear that they don’t take the most basic function of their job seriously. Once again at the 11th hour, we are extending the budget deadline because they have wasted months refusing to engage in serious, bipartisan negotiations. Their reckless behavior and lack of seriousness put real families at risk and their proposed budget cuts are extreme and cruel. Working families across this country need real investment in education, health care, housing, and the essential programs that keep families fed. It’s time we work toward funding these critical programs that invest directly to our communities that need it most.”
