Rep. Becca Balint on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Bigotry

“She uses her megaphone to inflame anger, resentment, and hatred”

Washington, D.C. - Rep. Becca Balint released the following statement following Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s continued bigotry toward Rep. Rashida Tlaib.:

“Last week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene used the power of the House of Representatives to elevate an Islamophobic, bigoted attack on the only Palestinian-American Member of Congress. It was riddled with lies and was designed to fan the flames of hate and fear precisely during a time when Muslim Americans are already facing increased threats and violence.

“Today, she came to the floor yet again with another inflammatory resolution against Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Rep. Greene has shown us repeatedly that she is not interested in governing. She isn’t working to make Americans’ lives better. She uses her megaphone to inflame anger, resentment, and hatred. And her craven resolution has diminished the weight and gravity of a critical accountability tool for this body.

“Ten days before a government shutdown Speaker Johnson has allowed his members to waste our time with multiple Islamophobic censure resolutions. It erodes the integrity of our institution. It’s time for the Republican Conference to take responsibility for the hate their members spread and end this ridiculous show.”
